We're getting married

Our Story
It begins like so many others — margaritas at happy hour. It was June of 2024, and I (Mitch) had recently run off to California for a little stint by the ocean with a couple of friends who were already out there. We spent most days simply surfing, eating burritos and the odd donut, and above all shirking any semblance of responsibility. So it’s safe to say I wasn’t exactly looking for the next big commitment in my life. But life doesn’t always go the way we plan.
And yet there we were, drinking margaritas in downtown Encinitas, doing the classic first-date dance — talking about interests, family, all of it. It was good. But it was the end of the date that sealed it for me. We landed on something we disagreed about, I made some big, exaggerated comment (shocker), and she stood her ground. Not in a rude way, but in a firm and kind sort of way.
That was the moment I knew I was dealing with someone different. Someone very special.
Our entire story would be too long to recall fully here, but through thick and thin we made it from California to Colorado, with many pit stops along the way. One of those stops was Portugal. We fell in love with the area and have chosen to celebrate and get married there. We cannot wait to celebrate with you all!
The Week
We have the farm from 3–10 May 2027 and would love you to come for as much of the week as you can. The ceremony is Friday the 7th; everything around it is relaxed. Times are local (WEST) and final details will be confirmed closer to the date.
Settle in, find the beach, find a pastel de nata. No plans — come whenever your travel allows.
Surf lessons, a vineyard afternoon, boat trips, or doing gloriously nothing. We'll suggest a few group outings for anyone who wants in.
Casual sundowners to kick things off. Come say hi and shake off the travel.
The main event — vows among the orange trees, then dinner, dancing, and local wine under the stars. Arrive by 4:00pm so we can start on time.
Coffee, pastries, and a swim for anyone still standing. Optional, drop in.
Last morning at the farm. Safe travels — and thank you for coming all this way.
Dress code (ceremony): Garden formal. Think linen and light colours — and flat or block heels, the ground is farm soil and grass. The rest of the week is come-as-you-are.
The Venue
Lagos, Faro District, Portugal · 5 minutes from town and the beaches
A rustic, romantic Portuguese quinta set among ancient orange trees. We'll say our vows in the groves, then move to the open-air event space for dinner around the pizza oven and fire pit — with the pool, lawns, and citrus all to ourselves for the week.
The farmhouse and its canvas tents in the orchard sleep 30+ between them. On-site rooms are limited, so we're offering them to a small number of guests — if that's you, you'll see the option when you RSVP.
See you in the Algarve
Getting There
Faro Airport is the closest, about a 1-hour drive from Lagos. It connects to most major European hubs. Book early — early May is a popular time on the Algarve.
Renting a car is the easiest way to get around the Algarve and reach the farm. There's also a direct train (Faro → Lagos, ~1h45) and transfer shuttles.
Orange Grove Farm is about 5 minutes from central Lagos — a quick taxi, Uber, or drive. We'll share the exact directions and any shuttle details closer to the day.
Where to Stay
A mix of options for different budgets. Lagos books up fast for early May, so reserve sooner rather than later — especially if you're staying the whole week.
Walkable to bars, beaches, and welcome drinks. Best if you don't want to drive at night. Hotels and plenty of apartments.
Closest to nightlife

Gifts
Your presence in Lagos is truly the gift — having you celebrate the week with us is more than enough. If you'd like to do something more, we've put together a registry.
Good to Know
Mild and mostly sunny — typically low-20s°C by day and cooler in the evenings, so bring a light jacket for after sunset. The Atlantic is still on the brisk side in May, but plenty of people swim. Pack sun protection regardless.
Plus-ones are noted on your invitation. If you're unsure, list everyone in your RSVP and we'll confirm.
Absolutely — kids are welcome! We'd love for your little ones to join us for the celebration. Just add them (and their ages) to your RSVP so we can plan for them.
It helps. The venue is outside town and taxis can be limited late at night. We'll share any shuttle details closer to the day.
Garden formal. Linen, light colours, and flat or block heels for the farm ground.
A Few Favourites

On-site accommodation at Orange Grove Farm is limited and shared. By choosing to stay at the venue you will be sharing a room and bathroom with other guests — you will not have your own private bedroom or private bathroom. We'll do our best to make everyone comfortable, but please only pick this option if you're happy with shared accommodation.
